Electrician Work Description Info
Electricians in a general sense work with electricity. However, that doesn’t tell you the actual tasks they do on a regular basis nor the services they provide. Below, we will be going over an electrician’s work description and the different job types they have and responsibilities it includes.
Job Types:
1. Residential Wiremen.
This is typically what people think about when they picture an electrician. Residential wiremen are there to install and maintain electrical wiring that goes into residential homes. They are responsible for installing residential home wiring, maintaining it, and repairing it.
2. Telecommunications Electricians.
This is another job type that is involved with electricians. These are the people that are responsible for laying down cable that is needed for a variety of communication devices including Internet and phone.
3. Inside Linemen.
These are the people that are responsible for installing and maintaining the electrical wiring that is meant for larger commercial buildings, factories, airports, schools, and more.
4. Outside Linemen.
These are the people that are there to set up cables that go directly from the power plant itself directly to peoples homes and commercial buildings. Because this is a very difficult and important job, it is typically high paying.
Responsibilities Of An Electrician:
1. Proper Placement Of Wiring.
One of the main important responsibilities of just about any electricians job is the proper placement of wiring in a building or home. They dictate where the circuits and panel boards should go and where all of the other components should go for optimal wiring. This is why getting your home or building wired by an experienced and professional electrician is a must.
2. Installing, Maintaining, and Replacing Circut Breakers and Transformers.
Another very important task they handle is the management of the circuit breakers and transformers in buildings and homes.
3. Find Safety Hazards.
Another important responsibility is the ability to properly detect potential safety hazards in either damaged or faulty wiring.
4. Teaching Other Apprentice Electricians.
They are also responsible for training other apprentice electricians when it is time.
Overall, there are a lot of different things that an electrician must do and is responsible for. A majority of the tasks that they are required to do is split between installation and maintenance of electrical wiring in houses and buildings. While installation and brand new layout construction are very important, maintenance is just as important if not as exciting as new installs.
