Duties and responsibilities of electrician maintenance
An electrician is a person who is charged with the responsibility of installing, operating, maintaining and removal of electrical appliances, equipment and wiring. Commercial electricians carry out the wiring of the equipment controlling lighting, heating and power tasks in large scale, repair and installation. The equipment include switches, sockets, air conditioners, relays and circuit breakers. These duties are carried out in large buildings, power plants and organizations that are power intensive. This operations requires designing of blue prints and proposals prior to actual installation procedures. This is to ensure efficiency in installation, elimination of errors during the actual installation and general safety of the building. Some of the tasks carried out by commercial electricians include:
Blue Prints and electrical diagrams.
Electricians do creates blue prints of the electrical composition of a building. This is done during the construction of the building before it is completed. This is what will be used during the wiring of the building. They should also be able to read blue prints from fellow electricians who maybe absent during the actual installation. Electrical diagrams are advanced blue prints with actual images and are created by the electricians to be presented to stakeholders who do not know much about electronics and electrical engineering.
Installation and Maintenance.
This involves initial installation of new equipment that has been procured for use within an organization including safety equipment like switches, circuit breakers and firefighting equipment and alarms. Maintenance are all the activities that carried out on already installed electrical equipment.
Inspection, Problem definition and solving.
Installed equipment do face challenges from time to time. It is the responsibility of a commercial electrician to inspect these equipment periodically to find out any arising breakdowns and other common problems and in the process solving them.
Following regulations.
Every country has their own regulations that define how electricians should carry out wiring activities. Electricians are tasked with the job of following these regulations to ensure the safety of every person that is interacting with electrical equipment.
Directing and Training workers.
It is impossible for the electrician to respond to each and every problem that arises with electrical appliances. Electricians educate the people using these appliances on basic steps to carry out in solving any small problems encountered during operations safely.
Consultation.
It is also the duty of an electrician to correctly advice stakeholders on the best equipment required for specifics tasks in the organization. The advice should be done based on expertise of the electrician and economical implementations of the finance department. The advice also comes with recommendations of future improvement.
